The weather in Indonesia was fine, not too hot unlike in Japan in the summer, so the students successfully did two major activities.
1. A visit at Universitas Darma Parsada which is located in Jakarta. It is one of our partner universities. During the visit, the Indonesian students played songs both old and new using a bamboo instrument and guitar. Our students had the chance to play the bamboo instrument. Our students, in return, demonstrated some things and activities which are part of Japanese culture and tradition. One example is the Geta tossing to predict weather. How to use Kimono was also shown. Some 100 Yen things were presented. Both the Japanese and Indonesian students had the chance to communicate in Japanese language in groups.
2. Teaching Japanese language at Gakushudo. Our students were grouped and each group taught a class of Indonesian students. The Japanese language classes were beginning level classes to intermediate level classes. Students varied from elementary to college students. The students attending the classes are interested in coming to Japan to study at Japanese universities or get a job at Japanese companies in Indonesia or Japan.
Aside from these two major activities, the students had cultural activities with the Indonesian students at the Gakushudo. The host school prepared Java dinner. The students experienced to eat with their hands. They also had the chance to talk with the Indonesian students in Japanese and English. Some Japanese books were given to the Gakushudo for them to use for their Japanese language study.
