ACP Off-Campus Program held at KUIS

ACP Off-Campus Program at KUIS was held from March 6 to 13 with 10 students from ACP Consortium Universities with the theme of “Field Research on Japanese Safety Management – Its Philosophy and Actual Operation”.

KUIS welcomed six students from Lampung University (Indonesia) and four students from Management & Science University (Malaysia) this year. Together with eight KUIS students the participants learned many aspects of “Safety and Security” by attending lectures in English and visiting public institutions such as JICA and International Recovery Platform during the program. They also took a day-trip to Kyoto, visited shrines and temples and broadened their knowledge of Japanese Culture.

When the participants visited the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake Memorial Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution in Kobe, one student noted “I was shocked by the scale of the disaster” after seeing the display of the Earthquake. When they visited Hyogo Prefectural Emergency Management and Training Center in Miki they observed the emergency stockpile storage underneath Miki’s Athletics Stadium stand. One student said “We have so much to learn from Japan’s disaster prevention schemes” and another said “I will consider taking a job that saves people’s lives when disaster strikes”.

The students returned to their home on March 14 after gaining new knowledge and friends.
